Interim and Summer Session

Interim Session

UNC offers a winter interim session which runs between fall and spring semesters. This Interim term provides a variety of online undergraduate and graduate level courses for students.

Current UNC students will be limited to the following:

  • You may take one class for up to four credit hours during the Interim Session.
  • If you are on academic probation then you may not enroll in the Interim Session.
  • You must have completed 24 hours of college credit prior to enrolling in the Interim Session.

Non-UNC students who wish to take a class need to submit the online student information form and allow 24 hours for processing. You may then sign on to URSA and follow the account activation instructions.

Summer Session

UNC offers a summer session which runs between the spring and fall semesters. This Summer term includes several individual sessions which provide a variety of undergraduate and graduate level courses for students.

Current UNC students will be limited to the following credit hours per individual session:

First 6-week session
9
Second 6-week session
9
8-week session (Educators' Session)
10
12-week session
12
Total maximum credits for summer session
15

To take more than the maximum credits, overload permission is required. This applies to both on and off-campus programs. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required to request permission. Overload permission must be granted from the following departments:

Undeclared undergraduate students Registrar's Office
Undeclared graduate students College Dean or Director
College of Education and Behavioral Sciences College Director or major advisor
College of Humanities and Social Sciences College Dean or major advisor
Monfort College of Business Dean of the major department
College of Performing and Visual Arts College Dean or Director, major advisor or Undergraduate/Graduate Coordinator
College of Natural and Health Sciences College Dean or Director
